Meadowbrook Montessori School - Freeport, Maine

Admissions and Enrollment

Meadowbrook Montessori School seeks to enroll children who are ready to embrace a nurturing environment in which each child is encouraged to develop at his or her own pace and is encouraged to become an independent member of a peaceful and respectful community.

Below is a step-by-step description of our admissions process. Please do not hesitate to call the school if you have any questions.

  1. Request For Information - After calling the school for information, you will receive a Meadowbrook Montessori School information packet that will include a program description, application form, and tuition information.

  2. Parent Visit - It is important that the school's philosophy matches both the child's needs and the parents' expectations. For this reason, visits are an important part of the admissions procedure. Please call the school to make an appointment to meet the director of the school and see the classrooms. This is your opportunity to ask questions about our program and to decide if Montessori is the right choice for your family. A further appointment to observe the classroom in action can be arranged at this point.

  3. Application - Upon receipt of the application form and the $35 non-refundable application fee, an admissions file will be opened for your child.

  4. Child Visit - The Montessori environment is not always the right match for every child. Before your child can be admitted to the school, he or she must visit the classroom and meet the classroom teacher. Children visiting the Primary Classroom will do so out of school hours and parents are encouraged to be present. Students visiting the Lower Elementary Classroom will do so during school hours and parents are asked not to be present in the classroom. These visits are by appointment only.

  5. In addition to the application form, families of Elementary students must submit an information-gathering form to the student’s current teacher. This form is confidential and should be mailed by the teacher directly to Meadowbrook.

  6. Letter of Acceptance - You will receive a letter of acceptance and a tuition contract. Your child's place in the school will be reserved for the following year upon receipt of the tuition deposit and signed tuition contract.
Admissions Policies - Precedence is given to siblings of children currently enrolled in the program. Also, it is important that each classroom is balanced according to age and gender, and these factors are taken into consideration during the enrollment process.
